Items for Sale

The Harrisburg Area Museum has a number of publications for sale, and sometimes we have a surplus of individual small items which we put on sale. Take a look at what is offered and see if you find anything interesting. Your purchase helps fund the Harrisburg Area Museum. All items are available in the museum office during open hours.

Historic Harrisburg

First published in 1994. This is a reprint with an enhanced index listing each person mentioned. An interesting read with historic items plus some interesting tidbits. Did you know that at one time it was illegal to smoke a cigarette on the city sidewalk? Cigars, pipes? Starts with some prehistoric facts, then to 1840 and ends about 1950. The Harrisburg High School cleaned out a storage area and gave the Museum a bunch of old ‘Annuals.’ The oldest is 1944-45. Click here for a list of the years available. Copies are limited. $30 each.

We also have some green mason jars for sale, and some printed burlap feed bags. These items have just about disappeared from common ownership. If you want a sample, now is your chance.

Ellis Dodd, a longtime Museum supporter, has hand-knitted some nice caps and scarves and donated them to the Museum for sale.

We paid for printing and binding of Historic Harrisburg, but all of the rest of the items for sale have been donated, so all proceeds go to the Museum.

You might want to check back every once in awhile as the available items change over time. Or better yet, visit the Museum and see all of the new and improved displays.
